Once you have fully recovered from the anesthetic, you should be able to go home. At home you should have bed rest with the head elevated on 2-3 pillows to help minimize the risk of edema and to reduce swelling. Your nose, upper lip, cheeks, and even the area around your eyes will look and feel swollen and sore for several days after surgery. This is normal and will gradually fade over the next 7 to 10 days. Ice on the face, bridge of the nose, and eyes should help to minimize these problems.
