With many years experience of providing first class cosmetic surgery solutions, Dr Constantine and his team will be with you every step of the way.

To help you feel confident about undergoing breast augmentation surgery, we have compiled our very own patient guide to walk you through the procedure.

Your Initial Consultation

Before you commit to any type of surgery we always undertake an initial consultation. At this stage you will get to meet with Dr Constantine and assure yourself that he is the right surgeon for you. Your body is precious to you, and it is important to us that you trust the surgeon to understand your needs, and that your feel safe and informed at all times.

During your consultation you will be able to discuss in detail your medical history, what happens on the day of the surgery, recovery times and any restrictions. Just as importantly, our surgeon will discuss your own goals with you, and recommend the best size and type of implant for you. He will also devise an ongoing plan for your general breast health. It is important that you are aware of any risks associated with the surgery and that you feel comfortable with our surgeon before you commit to the procedure.

Preparing For Your Surgery

When your surgery has been booked, you will need to take a few precautions before the day you are scheduled to be operated on. You may need to go in for a blood test, and we would certainly recommend that you stop smoking and avoid aspirin and some anti-inflammatory drugs. You may also need to take certain types of medication, but your doctor will run through this with you at your first consultation.

You will receive instructions about what will happen on the day of your surgery, which anesthesia will be used and what you should expect after the procedure.

On The Day Of The Procedure

On the day of the surgery, you will be seen, examined and prepared for surgery. This is usually the time where Dr Constantine will visit with you and talk you through the procedure and any remaining concerns you may have. You will also need to sign a consent form at this stage. Photographs will be taken to enable you to see a clear picture of the changes in your breasts after surgery.

You will be given a pre-med to send you off to sleep before the anesthesia is administered. During the operation, the surgeon will make an incision and open a pocket either in front of the muscle or behind the muscle. Your surgeon will then place the implant under the skin and check it to ensure it gives the correct profile. The wound is then closed in layers and sutured.

The area will be bandaged using either an elasticated bandage or a specially designed breast band. You may also have an antibiotic administered at this time to prevent infection.

After The Procedure

Immediately after your breast augmentation surgery, you will be taken into a recovery area to be closely monitored following surgery. Your breasts will be wrapped in gauze dressings and an elastic bandage or support bra will minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal. You may be permitted to go home after a few hours.

Your breasts will feel sore and tender and will be bandaged. You will be given pain relief as required.

In The Weeks Following The Procedure

You will be advised to avoid impact sports such as running and jogging, and you will be unable to move around too much. Gentle walking will be enough exercise for the first couple weeks following surgery.

You will also need to invest in a soft sports bra to keep your new breasts supported at all times.

What Symptoms Should I Expect After My Surgery?

Normal symptoms include swelling, some discomfort which is normally manageable by minor pain killers alone, and some prickling or shooting pains. Abnormal symptoms would include increasing swelling, increasing pain or fever and redness and these should alert you to return immediately to your surgeon.
